The awards recognising CSR activity were presented this year for the fifth time at a ceremony in India. The proposal submitted by Gedeon Richter Plc proved to be the best in the healthcare category at the World CSR Day event. The Global CSR Excellence and Leadership Award recognised the Company's efforts and results in the area of corporate social responsibility. Social responsibility has been a priority for Gedeon Richter Plc ever since its foundation 115 years ago.
It was especially important for the jury that Gedeon Richter pays special attention to prevention through its programmes, which is evidenced by its wide-ranging CSR activities. The Company's social responsibility activities include support for the future generation of the profession through its foundations; the Richter Health City programme, which puts the preservation of health into a broader context; and the Richter for Women programme, which includes, among other things, the Richter Golden Mum award.
It is for the first time that a Hungarian-based multinational company's social responsibility efforts have been appreciated by an international jury. Gedeon Richter prepared the application for the international award with BrandTrend, a branding and CSR branding agency.
The award was received on behalf of Gedeon Richter by Hoshang D. Messman, international business development director of Richter-Themis Medicare in Mumbai on 18 February 2016.
